I can't complain about this addition to the Selection series (even though I think it should have been its own separate series with three books, but that's just my opinion).  Eadlyn is a Princess, and has yet to be in love.  I honestly think she's afraid of getting hurt, so she keeps everyone (except her family) away from her.

Now, with provinces on the verge of rebellion (everyone is very unhappy) Eadlyn must go through a selection to distract everyone.  Only, she didn't expect to start liking some of the boys...

I have some favorites from the selection.  They all are different, and it will be interesting to see who Eadlyn ends up choosing.  And by the way??  The ending sucks!  HUGE cliffhanger.

Obviously this series is not as well known as Riordan's Percy Jackson series.  I think that is too bad because Carter and Sadie are entertaining.  I like how they interact with the Egyptian gods, using a lot of humor and humility at times.  Carter and Sadie have had to sacrifice a lot of things to save the world in each book.  

This is a good series to read while waiting for Riordan's next series to come out.  I know I'm excited for The Sword of Summer out October 6, 2015!

I love all of the Fool's Gold books, but Destiny and Kipling's story fell a little flat for me.  I think Destiny's backstory was the part of book that I had trouble with.  Her parents are famous, and she's a virgin who gets pregnant after having sex one time.  Sigh.  I hope the next book in this year's trilogy is has a better character.

I loved this book.  It was full of surprises!  Flavia travels to Canada and arrives at an all-girls boarding school.  Where she learns spy things.  I was a bit disappointed that Bradley didn't delve into Flavia's schooling/ spy school a bit more.  I'm still a little confused to what exactly she's going to be doing.  

Overall, I think this was probably my favorite Flavia mystery to date.  The revolving cast of characters makes this story highly entertaining.  I wish Flavia would have stayed in Canada longer, and now I'm especially excited to learn where Flavia is going to go next.

I love any and all Flavia de Luce mysteries.  While I loved this book, I definitely had some issues with it.  Luckily, they weren't major enough to rate it less than five stars.  This book is definitely a major turning point for Flavia.  Flavia must accept the terms of her mother's homecoming, and she has to grow up.  

Bradley's mystery in this book is less in the forefront.  I didn't exactly like this, but I accepted that this was the way that Bradley chose for Flavia to grow as a character.  I was excited for the ending of this book (spy school??), and I can't wait for Flavia's next adventures.

I thought these books were adorable.  I love Jarrett Krosoczka (Lunch Lady!!) and was excited to read this first middle-grade books.  I thought the books were well done, and I think kids of all ages will be excited to read them.  I listened to the audiobooks narrated by Johnny Heller, and I think I'm hooked.  He sounded like a real old school detective.

I love the characters from this series!  They feel so Southern, you're just waiting for them to say "ya'll" or something similar.  Harper is the classic Type-A control freak, who thinks she knows what everyone's best interests are.  In this book, things change when everyone has a different plan of action for "what's best".  Harper is also thrown into a Paladin trial, and if she fails it will end with her death.  The trials weren't really that dangerous, and that aspect was ended before it really began.  

Overall, this was a good, solid book for the Rebel Belle series.  It was a typical second novel, which left the readers with a lot more questions than answers.  There is no official word about a third book yet, but I hope there will be to tie up some of the loose threads.

I really struggled with this book.  I truly like this series, but Tandy seemed very whiny in this book to me.  She has a hard time trusting anyone, and with good reason.  I think the problem this book had was that there were too many "explosive" parts, so they all fell flat.   I will be finishing the rest of this series because I do want to know how it ends.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I have real reservations when an author reads his own book, but Jason Segal knocked it out of the park. He knew his own characters, and in doing so, provided them with their own unique voices. My favorite was Meduso and his three snakes. Meduso lends the story the unique adult figure who also has his own nightmares to face.

I am really glad that this story is part of a series. I know I will be getting the audiobook again.

When I found out that there was going to be a third book, I was a bit skeptical.  The second book ended on such a note, that it was almost impossible to see where the third book was going to go.  It did take me awhile to finally read this book, but I'm really glad I did.  Emma and Galen find this town that is filled with half-breed and full blood Syrena.  It was interesting to meet so many half-breeds.

I also liked the fact that we didn't know who to trust in Neptune.  Was everyone against Galen and Emma, and who exactly could they trust?  This was a great, action-packed ending to a great series.

I don't ever know what to write about this series.  I love it.  Kestrel has become even more sneaky.  As future empress, she is watched constantly.  Arin and Kestrel have many interludes, but they are both so stubborn!  There is a lot of stuff that goes unsaid between the two of them, and of course, it causes conflicts that could have been avoided.  

The ending was explosive!  I won't write anymore, but I am eagerly awaiting the final book in this series.

I don't know exactly what to say about this book.  It was pretty good, and I did enjoy it.  I thought the introduction of a cult was just what the whole overall story needed.  It pushed the plot forward, even after Stephen's "death".  Finding Stephen and moving the Oswulf Stone made the story drag.  The readers probably could have benefited from both of those scenes being cut in length.

Overall, I do like this series, and I think that The Shadow Cabinet is a good addition to this series.

Holy bazinga!  I loved this book!  I listened to the audiobook, and I have to say it was really well done.  I normally dislike when authors read their own creations, but I really enjoyed Colfer's rendition.  I could tell that he really thought about how these characters sounded, and he did make an effort to make them all sound different.

Alex and Connor have definitely grown a lot over the course of this novel.  Gone are the kids who accidently popped into the Land of Stories back in the first book.  They take matters into their own hands and fight for everything that they love and believe in.

Overall, this series is getting pretty good.  There were a couple of bombshells and MAJOR feels in the third book.  Now I have to wait patiently (yeah... right) for the fourth book to come out.  There's not even a title yet, and apparently book four comes out in July?

I loved the unique premise of this book: the fact that teens could join a Search and Rescue group.  I really liked the character of Ruby, our amateur Nancy Drew-esque detective,  Alexis was also interesting, with her mom's mental illness to deal with.  I think Nick was the shallowest character of them all.  All he wanted to do was be a hero like his dad who was killed in Iraq.  That led him to doing things without thinking them all the way through.

Overall, the characters were good, the plot was okay, and the murders were not really detailed.  I know that will be a factor for some teens reading this book; they want the suspense but not the detailed gore.  I tend to love mysteries and suspense novels of any kind, and I definitely plan on adding the sequel to my TBR.

What a stunning conclusion to this series!  I marathoned books 2 & 3, and I'm still in shock about the ending.  I loved Sera, and how she transformed from being this numb robot into becoming something more.  A person with her own memories and feelings.  I thought that the story behind her "birth" was sad and perfect all at the same time.  

Overall, this series is a series that I'm going to recommend to anyone who really likes science fiction.  Time travel is a large part of this series, along with genetic modification.

Really, I went into this book knowing that I would love this book because I love the entire series so much.  I was not disappointed!  Without going into too much detail, I will say that Queen Levana is a stone cold beotch.  I kept waiting for her to feel something, but that never came.  I'm really glad that the readers got to see into the mind of Queen Levana, and this book makes me even more excited for Winter coming out in November.

Overall, this was a great book.  I would recommend reading Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, and then Winter.  There are some spoilers and hidden gems in Fairest that wouldn't be understood without reading the first three books.

I signed up to read 16-20 contemporary books, so I've made good progress.  

As for my other challenges, Romantic Suspense Challenge, Men in Uniform Challenge, and  Debut Author Challenge, I haven't made any progress on those.  I've still got plenty time though!
